Chapter 2 "The Pain..."

Renji looked at Rukia , while they were heading towards the mansions .
- Reports ? He's trying to solve Aizen's case ?
- Exactly. - Rukia nodded - Nii-sama wants to find out what truly happened .
- What truly happened ? - Renji chewed on his lower lip - The case is simple, Aizen betrayed us ! - he looked at Rukia:
- What is there to find out, Rukia ?
The girl stopped and looked at him. Renji felt the ice beaming from her eyes and swallowed . She was sometimes so scary ... innocent ... and scary ...
- The truth, Renji . The truth ... - she turned on her heel and started to walk away , leaving him.
The truth ... He blinked and gasped :
- Rukia ? Hey , Rukia , wait for me !
In few steps he was by her side and they walked in silence . So many words that he wanted to tell her but none of them left his mouth . Renji looked at Rukia once and again , mustering up his courage , but every time he tried , something else was more important .
Like now for example... they just reached Kuchiki Byakuya Mansion . It wasn't the place they were heading.
- You have anything to talk about with Nii-sama ? Cause I have to come back to my place ... - Rukia asked looking at Renji.
He blinked - they didnt plan to visit Byakuya ...somehow ... it just happened .
- Yes .. We need to talk . - he nodded and smiled to Rukia - Stay safe ... Rukia ... - the last words were whispered to her back when Rukia walked away.


Renji walked through Kuchiki's garden . The place was so beautiful .... green grass and many cherry trees . Taichou loved sakura flowers . Everything was so neat , every bush was well cut and perfect . He heard the hum of the stream nearby , there was a small pond with koi-fish , Renji smiled remembering the beautiful fishes .

He stepped on wooden porch and then walked to the sliding paper wall. It was delicately opened , leaving only a small gap so to let the evening air enter the house and refresh it . Renji looked inside , seeing Byakuya sitting at the table piled with papers. His head was leant on his hand . Renji bit his lower lip and slipped of his waraji . Then he opened the wall and stepped inside . Coming closer he noticed Taichou is sleeping . He could hear his steady relaxed breath .
Renji took a blanket that was fold under the wall . Without thinking he wrapped it around Byakuya's shoulders . He didnt dare to touch him , only a wisp of Byakuya's hair moved and fell on Renji's hand. The man's heart froze and he held his breath. Byakuya didn't move ...

Renji turnt around and headed to the exit , planning to leave . But just then he sensed the faint smell of sakura and heard Taichou speaking :
- Abarai Fukutaichou ...?
Renji didn't dare to turn around . He felt the sweatdrop rolling down his temple and cheek . He leveled his breath and swallowed hard . Dry air left his lips when he answered :
- Yes , Taichou ?
Byakuya's low voice continued ... and the words made Renji tense even more .
- Thank you .. Fukutaichou .
Renji was still having his back to Byakuya , he had no courage to turn around and face his Taichou . Not now when he caught him sleeping !
- You're welcome ... - he answered trying not to show nervousness . In one swift move he made a step out of the mansion and grabbed his waraji quickly putting it on . His expert fingers tied the sandals' strings and he quickly stepped down the porch .

"Baka !" - Renji was scolding himself . " What made you think he wouldnt notice ? What made you think he's deeply sleeping ? Baka !" His fist landed on the ground with muffled thump . He was lying on the mattress in his small house . Near his hand was his Zabimaru sword and Renji's fingers touched the blade . He calmed down immediately and only the blushed cheeks showed that he was anxious .
- Zabimaru ... - Renji whispered and looked at his Zanpakutou . It was evening and only the moon was lighting the room . Renji had a bowl with fresh water in his room and when he looked at its direction - he noticed moon's reflection in the water . He remembered Byakuya's words ... the monkey trying to catch the moon ... drowning ...

- KUCHIKI TAICHOU !!!!

He saw him again . Standing there proud .. those violet eyes set on him , unaffected even by his Bankai .
Everything changed a moment later . When he saw Taichou's swift hand tracing the Kidou spell in the air . When he felt ligh rods entering his body ... catching him in middle breath ... making unable to move ... to speak ... to fight ...

And then ... Taichou's hand holding Senbonzakura ... He was speaking but Renji wasnt able to hear it . His mind was set on one picture . Taichou's long delicate fingers opened and the sword sunk in the ground ... And Byakuya's voice :
- Ban Kai ...

The world stopped his route . The wind silenced . The only thing that moved was a drop of sweat rolling down Renji's face . It was inevitable ... unrestrainable ...

- Chiire .... Senbonzakura ... Kageyoshi ...

He waited ... With his heart stopped , with his breath locked in throat ... waited ...

Thousand of cherry petals whirled in air ...
Thousand of blades ripped open every of his cell , tearing apart every inch , causing it to bleed from countless cuts .
Before long it only became worse .. worse and worse ...

The swords held him in place ... Just when he stood up and attacked Kuchiki ...The sharp blade pierced right through his body in many places . He couldnt hold the cry of pain any more and let it out ...

- Aaaaaarrr !!

He could hear his heart thumping , his own voice ... wet hair that sticked to his sweated forehead. The moon was looking inside of Renji's room .... Zabimaru blade was shining . Renji's hand greedily held the handle of his own sword , as if assuring it's there for real .

He let go of the sword , sitting up , only to wrap arms around his tattooed chest and shoulders .

Why ... Bad dreams ... Will it ever stop ?

- Taichou ... - he whispered letting tears and pain free - Taichou ... Why ?

Bad dreams ... Will it ever stop ? EVER ?

My Taichou dared me to write !

Chapter 1 "The Story ..."

Pink petals were flowing in the air . It looked as if raining with cherry flowers . The man was sitting under one of the trees , on the grass. Wearing black shinigami outfit , a bit disheveled , not that he cared at all. Soon he lay down on his back, allowing long crimson hair to sprawl on green grass . He raised his muscular arm up as if wanting to touch sky . The sakura petals softly landed on his palm ... on his face and hair .

-So safe ... - he whispered with his deep voice. Who could believe the same delicate petals marked his body with thousands of blades . How long ago it was ..? It seems months , though in fact it couldnt be more than a week or few .

He shivered remembering his Taichou commending his Zanpakuto to scatter. Pain again showed in every inch of his muscles , as if it again happened . Why ? He didnt know . Brain is weird thing , allowing us to forget traumatic things ... Time will come and Renji will forget all those blades ...


He rested his hand on his stomach and sighed relaxing. My my ... some boredom and laziness was all he needed. Taichou was fully healed and slowly everything was coming back to normal. Normal ...? Renji sat up with a gasp , his mind rushing. Taichou changed , yes , unbelievable but Kuchiki Byakuya did change . He was more nice to Rukia , more caring , yes , the guy showed he's got heart under this alabaster skin .

Renji's hand ran through his red hair , now let loose . It was his time to relax, to forget and to think about ... well.. about nice things . Asking more ? Not at all , he's got bento with him (well, it was empty box now) and opened bottle with some juice mixed with spring water .

Just at the very moment , he wanted to yawn and stretch , he noticed familiar silhoutte further away. Rukia.

He stood up quickly and hid behind the cherry tree , so she didnt notice him .

Rukia was wearing flower patterned kimono , mostly pink and pastel blue ...Her obi was of darker blue and there was blue iris tucked behind her ear . Renji touched the tree he was hiding behind , and swallowed . She didnt see him yet .


Rukia's small hand moved to touched a pink flower , one of many here , and mercilessly she spoke :
- You can come out , Renji , I know you're there.

Doh !! Renji blinked and walked out from behind the tree. In an instinct his hand moved up grapping a handful of his hair and twisting it around the hand . Then he let it go so his hair were now in fake braid .

- Never cheat a Shinigami, hm ? - he asked giving her faint smile.
- Baka ! - Rukia snarled. That was Rukia ... Even dressed in noble kimono, so pretty and innocent , she -was- Rukia the Shinigami.
- You left your Bento and bottle .. - Rukia had mercy and explained - It was not hard to find out you're here .

Renji looked at the box , he had to agree with her .
- What brought you here ? - He wanted to tell her she looks beautiful but instead he just asked a question.
Rukia smiled :
- Just taking a walk. Nii-sama is sleeping so I decided to go out alone .
Renji blinked . Taichou was sleeping . During day. Taking nap ...
- Renji , stop thinking , you look stupid when you use brain.
That made him ponder for a moment and then he exploded :
- Naah! How dare you insult me ! - Being short fuse didnt help at all .
- I can say what I want , not my fault you look stupid ! - Rukia shouted back immediately - Especially with those tattoes of yours !
- Leave my tats alone ! - Renji grabbed Rukia in the air . It took him half of second and he was holding her under his arm, giving her few spanks on butt.
Rukia didnt expect it and shut up.
- Wiser now , ha ? - Renji stood Rukia at the ground and looked at her . He tilted his head , hands resting on his hips.
It couldnt be helped , a moment later they both burst in cheerful laughter .

- Truly, Byakuya is sleeping ?- Renji asked and Rukia nodded revealing even more secrets :
- He's got much to do. You know , paperworks , documents ... Everything must be set , all the reports and informations ...
